These rules follow the GMS Library SOP 2026 and apply to all Pre & Kindergarten and Elementary students.
1. Library Time
Every class has Library Time with the librarian in a two-week cycle:
- First week – borrowing books. Students choose books, stay in the library, and return to class when Library Time ends.
- Second week – library activities. Storytelling, roleplay, writing, book discussion, arts & crafts, Literacy Day, watching and listening to stories, and other literacy activities.
A student who is absent on library day may borrow on the next school day only.
2. Borrowing books
| Student | Books at a time | Loan period |

| Pre & Kindergarten | 2 books | 14 days |
| Elementary | 4 books | 14 days |
- Colour labels: students choose books that match their age and reading level, shown by the colour label on the spine – red = Upper Elementary, yellow = Lower Elementary, green = Pre & Kindergarten, navy = staff/teachers.
- Library log: Pre & K receive it at Library Time; Elementary receive it 1 day after Library Time. The book and the log go home and are filled in by the student at home, not kept in class.
- Same book again: a student may borrow a favourite book again after 6 months.
- Reminders: the librarian sends parents a WhatsApp reminder to return books – Pre & K 2 days before Library Time, Elementary 1 day before.

Reading Corner & Class Reference Books
These rules follow the GMS Library SOP 2026 and are for class teachers.
Each class may borrow books for its reading corner each term: Pre & K up to 60 books, Elementary up to 90 books (reading corner and reference).
- Who: class teachers borrow and return the books and must be present when doing so. All transactions are recorded in the digital system.
- Returning: all books come back at the next rotation (every 3 months), before new books are borrowed. Lost books are replaced based on the book's price.
- Same books next term: not allowed, so other classes can use them.
- Teachers' role: keep the borrowed books organised in class and remind students to handle them carefully.
- Damaged or lost: report to the library staff immediately. Books damaged through negligence are replaced by the person responsible (student or teacher).
- New books: teachers may fill in the request form. New purchases are made once a year; the library team decides which books come first.
