The Railway Children

When their father is mysteriously taken away by two strangers, Roberta (Bobbie), Peter, and Phyllis move with their mother from their comfortable London home to a small cottage in the countryside near a railway line. The children find solace in the steam engines and make friends with the railway porter, Perks, and the "Old Gentleman" who waves from the 9:15 train. As they navigate their new life of "genteel poverty," they perform acts of bravery and kindness, all while hoping to uncover the truth about their father's disappearance. This edition includes a wealth of extra material for young readers, including a biography of E. Nesbit and activities.
